E.I.C.Rs. Delinquent Council.

In today's Eastern Daily Press there is an article that says that 100s of council homes across Norwich were potentially in danger because critical safety checks of water and electrics were not done.

Evidently 892 properties were uncovered where electrical checks had not been carried out every five years.

What an example to set.

  • What an example indeed! But the ESSPRCR 2020 don't apply.

  • The NICEIC have their Wall of Shame which lists some of the enterprises that were falsely advertising as being enrolled with the NICEIC, they used to publish a list of who had been thrown out as well, there were a surprising number of council works departments on it.

  • And you may be shocked to find out that Housing Associations do not have to fit fire/smoke detectors, or, do EICRs on their properties.

They have to have alternative regimes in place if they do not comply with Building regs guidance.

  • I think you will find that if such installation are under a regular maintenance program, then thy don't need to be up to scratch in terms of the latest regulations.

  • I have it on good authority that DFLUHC are thinking about making it mandatory for social housing to comply with the PRS legislation. At the moment DFLUHC have an expectation to comply with the PRS legislation.

  • If you believe that you need to listen to the Grenfell inquiry. This sector is entirely and completely a disaster area.

  • I still have a hope that heads will roll (eventually) Yes I might be be deluded!
