Hi, does a grade D system require "Audible and visual indication of mains failure"?
I'm installing Acio or FireAngle smoke alarms in category LD2/LD3 grade D1/D2 systems with domestic rewires. They have a visual indication (the green light goes away) but not an audible indication like a beep.
Its on the checklist questions on the NICEIC Domestic Fire Certificate for Grade D,C or F (DFHP19C).
On the second page it asks about “As-fitted drawings". I assume that's a drawing of the property and the smoke alarm locations? Is that required for grade D?
Also on there was “Bedroom sound pressure level (Clause 13.2e)” so I bought “an instrument complying with BS EN 61672, Class 2, with slow response and A weighting , suitable for measuring the sound pressure level” to test that at bedroom doorways the alarm is >85dB.
I've read through the Aico and FireAngel instructions and their contractor handybooks, and I've bought and read the IET Guide to Fire systems and called the NICEIC a few times but don't want to call again! This job is a minefield and the guides are a load of shite IMO.
Thanks.
