Chiller Supply. H E L P.

Can I get away with supplying this chiller rated at 240 Volt 25.5 Amps via a BS88-2 32 Amp cartridge fuse. I do not have any 25 Amp C type breakers in stock.

  • probably - if a 25 A c type would have done. I cannot see from your link that a 25A c type is ok or not.

worst will be the fuse goes on the inrush.

and the fish inside the walk in chiller will suffer. I believe that the supplier of the unit suggested a C25 M.C.B. according to notes supplied by the customer. I am not familiar with these units and am not sure if the motor has a soft start circuit. I can't get a C25 until next week.

I wanted to complete the urgent job today as I am not available next week.

Is this for a domestic? If so a BS 88-3 (BS 1361 of yore) might be a better choice for ‘unskilled’ owners than the more industrial BS 88-2 types.

Semi commercial sub-main supply. The fuse I already had.
