Cable terminations to lighting control gear

I have come across a lot of flexible cable terminations to lighting control gear where the sheath of the cable is removed before entering the control gear and the cores of the cable are clamped rather than the sheath. The control gear is supplied by the manufacturer complete with flex and a plug for attachment to a modular wiring system.  The manufacturer says it complies with the product standard BS EN 60598.

  • Do you not thing that the cores of the cable will be strained by being clamped rather than the sheath being clamped?

Do you think the designer of the control gear intended cable cores to be clamped?
