Recommend a diesel generator.

About 20 KVA, for domestic and home business standby use.  New preferred, but good, low hours used considered.

Weatherproof enclosure not needed as to be installed in a purpose built brick outbuilding.

Push button electric start required, not auto start.

Reliability, and user serviceable at least for minor services, are the most important features.

  • 0.5 m above the highest part of the piglet should be OK provided that the infra red heater has a reasonably well dispersed output and not a narrow hot spot.

0.5m above floor level, not so.

Returning to my neighbours generator, then a 20 KVA Perkins unit looks likely. I can remember when Perkins was a well respected make, is this still the case ?

Are the starter batteries generally 12 volt in this size of generator?
