Why the colours we use (Brown/Blue/Green+Yellow)

I think i've flipped up

I was under the impression we use the Brown Blue and Green/Yellow help with colour blindness (most common green and red)

I know it's to bring UK in line with EU. But why did EU use them colours.

Because I understand green earth (CPC)

Red Live (line) [hot colour]

(Forgive any misspellings Dyslexic and hard to see , also miss out works as forget to type them)

I wonder where they buy the stranded single core red cable from? Not too easy to purchase 2.5 mm² stranded red in the UK.

You can readily get almost any colour you want in France - red, blue, black, violet, black, brown, orange - e.g. https://www.leroymerlin.fr/produits/electricite-domotique/rallonge-multiprise-enrouleur-et-cable-electrique/fil-et-cable-electrique-gaine-prefilee-et-cable-internet/?pedagogicalFilters=%7B%22que-recherchez-vous%22%3A%22Fil%20%C3%A9lectrique%22%7D&p=1

and that's just from what I gather is one of their DIY sheds - wholesalers might have a better range.
