100mA RCD location TT??

So I believe a 100mA time delay RCD is required for a TT system if a split load board but not an RCBO board, why the difference?? Also any regs reference please?

I have been told that I can just swap out the isolator switch in the board for an RCD however I read that the RCD should be upstream in a plastic enclosure?

Any input appriciated Slight smile

Metal enclosure BTW...

  • Whether Dual RCDs or all RCBOs or a mix and match thingy. I would prefer a pre - metalic CU to be fed at least by a 100mA TD RCD in it`s own insulated enclosure. Note the RCDs are in the CU are usually double pole anyway but you`d have to make sure any RCBOs are truly double pole switching and not of solid N link input.

Pre-metalic? that did not sound right! I meant the insulated RCD is feeding the metallic consumer unit so at least you`d have RCD protection before the metal consumer unit, even if only 100mA and time delayed
