Air source heat pump first fix.

Hello,

Ive been asked to install the first fix wiring for an air source heat pump, this isnt something i normally get involved with so i was just wondering if anyone has any good diagrams or specifications as to what need to be installed where? 

It is a single air source heat pump feeding two underfloor heating manifolds.

Any advice is most appreciated.

    Requirements vary a lot, and only reference to the instructions for the unit in question will help much.

    If you have the datsheet for it, or even just the a make and model names, we may be able to help more.

    Even telling us the wattage and if it is 1 phase or 3 would be a good start.

    I’ve been told it’s a NIBE air source heat pump F2040-16. I don’t have any other associated documentation.

    Yes that appears to be the one.

    That PDF is a good start, looks like you may need to  source a single phase 25A C-type breaker then, and skipping to P77 of that PDF, I think it expects the mains goes to the outside unit, and then that sends mains (LNE) and signalling cables( A/B and gnd)  go indoors to the indoor unit, and them further bus wiring to thermostats/controls etc.

    However, I have only skim read it, I suggest you check in more detail.

    Yes, that's pretty much it. I've done a few, they are remarkably easy if you have done a few conventional CH  systems before.

    Largish cable to where the the condensor/fan unit is, typically 6mm T+E, though could be bigger, where it terminates in a rotary isolator. The ones I fitted came complete with the control cables, which, generally go back to the cupboard where the hot water tank is.

    There are also supplies for one or 2 immersion heaters. The control wires and immersion supplies are then fitted to the controllers and immersions/stats etc. Rooms stats are nearly always wireless.
