  • Indeed thanks for the link JP.

The bit that caught my eye was

"Members of the committee responsible for the technical content of BS 7671, JPEL/64, are not permitted to release any further information before the publication date"

I do not recall anything like that for previous AMDs - is it a new thing or did I just not realise it was the case last time?

I  presume there will be the usual rash of wiring matters type articles to cover anything revolutionary or contentious in the days after publication.

    Mike.

  • I do not recall anything like that for previous AMDs - is it a new thing or did I just not realise it was the case last time?

It's always been the case. I've been involved with activities of JPEL/64 for almost 20 years, and it's always been the same, as with other BSI Committees.

Similarly, it's possible to communicate about the content of a draft only after the draft has been published for public comment, but not before.

  • Thanks for clarifying  - it seems fair enough, and thinking back we used to do that with the 3GPP stuff, so there was more or less a united front about when a new release came out (*), but it was more than a decade ago, and I  have no idea if it is still true  -it just read a  bit oddly seeing it like that in a press release - especially as that very  release seems to 'trailer' the contents.

    Mike.

(*) though of course those companies who sent delegates to the meeting still had an in-house advantage as they provided the content and the research that supported it.
