"Probably son. What's the current reading?!

  • I see no reason why the installation of a smart meter should save money per se.

However, if it permits suppliers to offer more favourable terms, one would be worth having. It is not so much that energy use decreases, but the price might.

  • Well I think most sensible folk will be fairly careful with energy use - it was bred into them during my generations and the ones beforehand (sometimes to excess - if you are leaving a room for 30 seconds then switch lights off then put them back on when returned. This plays havoc with filament lamps, Fluro's and LEDs anyway, not to mention switches etc).

I have tried to rewire houses and thread cables room to room and some older folk immediately switch the light off within half a second of you leaving one room to go to another room to come back because you can not see under the floorboards to fish your cable thru. They are switch it off maniacs! LOL.

So (some might disagree here) the only people it is saving for are the less knowledgeable or their children, I mean like households with 3 TVs left on all day and nobody watching for hours and hours. I seen that more than a few times)

PS - folk over a certain age seem to always have at least one drawer in a set of chest o` drawers absolutely full of random rectanles of folded brown paper and oddment asssortments of string LOL
