UFH switchgear bathroom outside zones

I know that 701.512.3 prohibits socket outlets outside zones in bathroom unless >3m from zone 1 but is underfloor heating switchgear allowed ?

The undated instructions for the UFH control states that the controls must be sited outside the bathroom yet BS7671:2018 does not prohibit siting anywhere ouside zones within the bathroom except socket outlets.

Am I missing something ?

(The UFH itself complies with 7.1.753)

  • Well BS7671 does not prohibit it or indeed switches fused spurs etc in general, but the makers instructions do - so presumably they know it is not happy with exposure to a damp atmosphere or something that makes it ill suited to the location. In a case like that I suggest makers advice probably takes priority if you want it to last the guarantee period.
