Will the rats/mice eat it?

Another rather basic question: is FP cable any less likely to suffer damage by nibbling than PVC?  Location is the semi-enclosed eating area in a camping cabin environment.  Cables are to be installed on roof truss timbers; basic plus emergency lighting.  Our resident farmer wearing his pest control hat, reckons the risk of 'critters' being interested in getting up there is quite low; there is no evidence of their presence in the area thus far.  As site management is highly resistant to a conduit system on the grounds of appearance, I have few options (and walking away is not one of them).  I guess I'd be happy enough using MI, but costs and borrowing of tooling would both be difficult.  Anyone in West Oxfordshire if that is the advice?

  • Unlikely to get mice and rats at high level. But if you were thinking of running the cable along the top of the rafters, less visible, then Barn Owls or other birds with sharp claws and beaks might do some damage. They could be attracted to the rodents anyway. Might be best along the sides or bottom of rafters. I won't mention bats.
