I will agree there is trouble ahead, but as if you want any volume hydrogen has to be made from something else I see a pinch point there as well. You can make it by electrolysis, so hydrogen making  may eventually make a handy overload dump for when the wind blows harder than we need. As I understand it right now  is only about 50% efficient compared to using the electricity  immediately - though heroic efforts are being made to improve this efficiency at large scale, not least because huge volumes of hot water are not that useful at a power station.

Of course cracking methane (the main component in natural gas like  North sea, gas, or Russian gas, or indeed the US shale gasses. ) to make hydrogen is the current way to make a lot. However for fuel creation it is that not looking bright either in the current situation of rising prices for natural gasses of all kinds, and again in terms of energy in versus out at the end when you burn the hydrogen it is far from 100% efficient.

And all this kit needs to be built at gigwatt scales. I think it will be "interesting". And the winning techniques will vary from place to place. There may be more refugees, or at least folk on the move,  from energy shortages than from wars in a few years.
