Main service cables hidden

Evening All, 

 Came across this today and wondered what people's thoughts were.

An old terreced property had a single story extension at some point. Prior to the extension, I assume the main service cables ran up the outside wall and through to the meter above the back door. 

The extension was built, I assume, over/around these cables. Today I came across them hidden under the plaster above the door (opposite side of the meter, where they would have ran above the outside door before the extension).

These should surely be protected, anyone drilling through them will have no protection device to protect them!

    If empty trunking is put up, then someone In the future is bound to open it, find no cables and assume it is redundant. Worth writing with an indelible pen that "cables are concealed behind" inside the trunking.

    Also there is a 150mm "safe" zone on the wall from the ceiling. It looks to me that those cables are 50mm deep at 150mm. So arguably can just be plastered over. But the consequences of drilling could be severe.

    Other possibilities;

    leave the hole and put a nice picture up above door

    Cover hole with nice looking ventilation Louvre

    Put industrial sized trunking up and call it a wall safe Slight smile

    Olympus, "empty trunking" ? I didn`t put empty trunking up (you might be refering to someone else's comment or something you`ve come across previously. Just in case it is my comment you are thinking of though I will reiterate. 

    Cable clipped horizontally. I removed clips, fixed a piece of trunking on that run and put the cable in it, closed trunking lid. So a nicely straight and level piece of trunking containing a cable. The cable was now protected mechanically and its presence observable. Job done, until some jerk put a coat of plaster across the whole lot and left it as a flat wall with no indication that there was now a cable lurking just below the surface.
