Shunt Coil.

Has anyone ever used the term "Shunt Coil" relating to a three phase motor starter contactor coil?

  • Ah well clueless they may be -  but  both the UVlock and normal coils will be wired 'in shunt', just the drop out voltage in the case of the normal coil is not well controlled. Which for a large machine on a droopy supply may not be a bad thing.
