EVSE random start delays and testing.

I have been watching videos on YouTube again, this one is about new legislation requiring charging equipment to be set to charge out of peak hours by default with a manual override to discourage charging at times when there’s high demand on the networks, however all EVSE will also has to have a random delay of up to ten minutes, because for example lots of EVSE is set to come on at the same time the combined sudden load could cause major issues.

So, if new EVSE has a random delay will there be an engineers mode to allow it to be operated instantly for testing or could the electrician be waiting for up to ten minutes for the EVSE to respond to command to charge?

  • I took it as these are default settings, so I would assume they function as soon as the EVSE is powered up.
