Megger MFT testers from around the world. Identify the countries by their functions.

Tester 2. No loop testing and only a RCD ramp test.

So one with an additional feature and one without what we consider all the basic requirements, where are they used?

A UK spec MFT1741 like mine for comparison.

MFT 1835 is used in Germany. Not just the 2x RCD, but also the earth resistance test settings suitable for German distribution system. But I think it's marketed as a "Euro" model, particularly for the EU countries that follow the DE approach to certain things?

NOTE: "Clamp+A" is the current measurement setting - so I think you get more with the 1741?

Model number is the big giveaway. MFT70 for NFPA70 (US National Electrical Code).

There’s another significant market for the MFT1835 with the times two RCD test, I wasn’t actually thinking of Germany.

The 1835 comes in the following varieties, I believe:

MFT1835-AU 1002-411 (Australia. I understand AS/NZS 3000 doesn't demand RCD operating time to be tested at all, only a functional test with trip button or special test equipment ... and the latter, according to a note, could be a "test plug a resistor between active and earth pins")
MFT1835-CH-DE/FR 1002-620 (Switzerland, France, Germany)
MFT1835-SC-DE/NL/EN 1002-415 (Germany, Netherlands)
MFT1835-SC-FR/ES 1002-417 (France, Spain)

I'm guessing here, but out of the above, I'd pick France/Spain from the list due to their reliance on TT? But as it's a guess, there's a chance I haven't picked up what's in your mind, Sparkingchip 

I assumed this was for the US market just on the basis that nothing much needed testing.

I bet that the innards are mostly the same with just the dials being different.

It was an Australian website the MFT1800 series tester came up on, being sold in Australia and New Zealand and of course the MFT70 on an American website.

I was actually looking at the earth rod testing accessories for my MFT1741 last night, some years ago I bought a secondhand dedicated three wire earth rod tester without any test leads or spikes.

Having purchased the test leads and spikes I have used it a few times, but having bought the MFT1741 really I should sell the earth tester but keep the leads and spikes to use with the MFT, as I have testers I don’t actually need.

Which is how I came to be looking at Megger MFTs last night, I don’t think I will be rushing to buy the clamps for stake-less testing already having a set of leads and spikes.
