Wrong sized glands in electrical distribution cables

I have been to a site where the contractor has used the oversized glands (the next size up) when terminating single core armoured cables into distribution boards. How much of a concern would this be to you?

  • Does this still prevent  water or dirt ingress into places it should not go, or into the cable ?
Is the gland serving to earth the armour, and does it do so securely and in a way that will survive the full prospective fault.

Only if yes, and yes, I'd say its OK. Failure of either or these is probably an argument to re-make the gland plates with smaller holes ;-)

And even so why ? and what else is a bit funny

  • The terminations are inside a building and are shrouded.
