Wrong sized glands in electrical distribution cables

I have been to a site where the contractor has used the oversized glands (the next size up) when terminating single core armoured cables into distribution boards. How much of a concern would this be to you?

  • Single core so AWA cable? So could be aluminium glands, so would be bigger if same strength as brass.

Also some gland manufacturers specify the same size gland for different sized cables. Would need to check with cable and gland manufacturers

Edit; just re-read this, apologies if you've thought of these already, grandma and eggs etc.

  • Yes, AWA cable. The reason I say the glands are too big is that the back part of the CW gland is too big to provide a seal onto the cable.

    (no apology necessary)
