Thou shall not steal .... except when electriciity is involved

Having returned from South African residence in 2000, I keep in touch. This video, shows the escalation of electricity meter abstraction going on there now. In a country with an escalation of daily power cuts, caused by lack of maintenance on power stations since the government changed colour. What does the future hold there ?. How does the level compare with the UK ?.

  • Another case was an external illuminated sign connected to a street light mounted on the front of the same building.

    Could be legitimate - a lot of bill board lighting is done similarly around here. Even though it's owned by a private company it's wired direct to the mains umetered, like street lighting. It's then paid for by licence presuming a fixed consumption (over  year).
