Outdoor lighting control

Hi all,

I have 8x downlights in the soffit above my porch and garage currently operated by a PIR.

I would like to change the way they are switched on and off but I'm not sure of the best way to achieve what I want, or if it's possible at a reasonable cost.

I would ideally like the lights to switch on in the evening by a timer but only to 50% brightness, and then gradually increase to 100% when motion is detected for a couple of minutes before dimming back to half brightness.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • Sounds more complicated than it need be. Why not just have the lights on a timer with a day/night sensor and let them run at their rated brightness all the time? If too bright, just change the lamps for ones with lower ratings.

  • I think that there are PIRs or at least lamps which do this sort of thing. Steinel? In this instance, Uncle Google is your friend.
