Can you use the DNO to instal a CCU?

Hello all...

Hope everyone's ok??

Is it permissible to use the external DNO box to instal a CCU / other, for running a circuit to say a 'car charger?'

I'd always thought that this is not allowed so...

regards...

Tom.

  • I don't know the load, required... cannot be that much, surely?

Quite substantial usually - often around 32A or 7kW - and for many hours at a time.

  • Hiya,

WOW! 7kW? Didn't know it would be that high!

I assumed it would be some sort of 'trickle charge?'

    regards...

  • For a modern EV, that is a trickle charge!  With modern batteries often being around 50 to 70kWh, charging at 7kW will take many hours.

The charging points can usually be set to offer lower rates, such as 3.6kW, if necessary.
