240v window fan near shower.

During a condition report, have noticed a window fan supplied from a lighting pendant

within the window reveal next to the shower tray. The osg rates a window reveal as zone 2,

allowing "permanently connected equipment, general rules apply".The shower curtain

shields the shower from the fan.The pendant will not be IPX5,so am tempted to change

the setup to a selv window fan. Thanks for any advice,

  • I'm not sure I'm picturing this correctly - do you have a fan supplied by flex that's coming out of a ceiling rose? Is the ceiling rose also within zone 2? If the issue is just the the rose isn't IPX4 then maybe the simplest answer is just to replace the rose with a suitable IP rated box, The IP requirements are general and apply the same to SELV as well as mains circuits (SELV circuits might be less of a shock hazard but they can corrode just the same).
