Trying to get into fitting solar PV

Hi all new at this forum so apologies if I'm asking in the wrong place or if you're bored of the question. 

I'm a domestic electrician for almost twenty years, mostly been with working with larger firms. However I'm trying to look into installing solar PV this will largely be for my own home and selected friends and family. What I'm wondering though is a solar course something I really need to invest in or is there enough reputable  and correct information online. Like learning about battery and panel sizing and the right inverter to use.

If you guys are aware of any online literature I'd appreciate it if you could share here.

    If you want to make a living out of it, you'll need to be MCS certified https://mcscertified.com/installers-manufacturers/becoming-certified/.  Without the right installation certificate, your customers wouldn't be able to claim for any electricity they export back to the grid.

    The industry is highly cyclical.  Companies come and go all the time, as the economics of solar change.  At the moment, it's a boom industry as people are trying to get electricity bills down.

    • Thanks and that will be the way forward but first I need to gain enough knowledge to get my creditation so am looking for any online literature where I can learn about calculating amount of solar panels, commissioning and fitting inverters etc

    A one man band has to go through the same MCS accreditation as a company employing gangs of installers. It's not for the faint hearted (or cheap) but it is doable. As Simon said it is a cyclical business, I decided not to renew my accreditation when business dried up when the FIT was first slashed.
