TN-S Earthing system for Lift main supply

Hi All,

Quick check if the following proposal is okay.

The design specifies a Multicore XLPE cable 4Cx25sqmm + 1Cx16sqmm CPC for the main supplies of a lift in a Data Centre.

The construction team has installed a Multicore XLPE/LSZH cable 5Cx25sqmm.

Would it be any issues with utilising a 5C cable rather than a 4C with a separate CPC?

Regards,

Aroi

  • So long as the cores are clearly labelled up and the armour is properly glanded and earthed as well, it will be fine to use one core as earthing, if anything probably superior to the original plan. The only possible problem is that it is fatter and may not go round bends so closely  but if they have already done it, then that is clearly OK too.

Just check it is the right size of gland at the ends and there is room to make a neat termination - it may need a bigger box, but probably not.
