Dual-tariff voltage operated earth leakage circuit breaker.

Not the clearest of photos, a dual-tariff TT earthed installation with two fuse boards, one for each tariff installed over forty years ago.

The lives for the fuse boards both run through the VOELCB with the 24/7 live running through the right hand side and the off-peak live through the left hand side, the neutrals go straight back from the fuse boards to the Henly block and meters.

I suppose it will work as the original installer intended?

  • I've seen similar setups where the E7 and 24h supplies have been taken through a DP isolator. Lack of N disconnection isn't ideal, but I suppose safe enough in most circumstances. Yes being VO the ELCB won't worry about the two main poles not being in balance.
