BA1 BA2 BA3 and socket outlets

Could any one suggest why indent (i) in 411.3.3 is worded as it is? Why, for instance, did the regulation not just stipulate additional protection for socket outlets not exceeding 32A for persons of capability BA1, BA2 and BA3. Am I missing something subtle?

Also in Appendix 5, why the encompassing bracket on BA3 and BA4 (page 505)?

    It does read rather clumsily - I guess it started off as ordinary persons (including children) but then got the BA ratings added on where it's not clear that "ordinary" children come under the heading of "ordinary" or not, and 'thereafter amended by committee' as the saying goes. It might have been simpler just to say anyone other than skilled/instructed rather than try to list everyone that isn't.

    I've no idea about the brackets - that entire appendix seems to be scattered with random looking ones.

    The cynics amongst us might say all this is a similar reason as the one where someone asks "Why does the Electrical trade use lots of greek symbols etc?" . Well it`s so we can add bigger prices on our jobs Wink
