Which Elex show?

Out of interest, how many sparks on here go to the Elex show and which one do you go to?

  • I'm not an electrician but I've been to the Exeter one and met some of our forum users there Blush

I believe it's very well attended as a whole though.

  • I do hope that if we vote for the top entrant then we get put in a free raffle for a prize

  • Shh! Lisa, I thought was a secret vote

  • I went to Sandown today and was rather disappointed. When I went downstairs for my bacon buttie (long and thin this year) I was surprised to find no stands.

One of the exhibitors told me that footfall has been decreasing, but then fewer exhibitors will turn up so fewer electricians will go, and so on.

I specifically wanted to look at CUs, preferably with built in SPDs, but there were few on display.

As ever, the most popular stalls were the tool vendors.

I couldn't leave without buying something, so I treated myself to a new spirit level. Smiley (Before Lisa gets upset, I didn't need another BBB or OSG.)

  • Yes I was there with the apprentice yesterday watching mr Peckham receive some pertaining questions with mic held tightly!.

my semi local tool shop whom specialise in Bosch wasn’t there this year either ,, general lack of quality reps also was missing , just plenty of sales staff flogging led torches and the like !.

spoke to said tool shop who said it was to expensive to get a stall this year and compete with Stanleys cheap as chip brigade .

the iet and napit seminars where as always good , I note unless I’m mistaken even the niceic wasn’t there this year .

  • I went to the Ally Pally one earlier this year and it was practically deserted - only half full of exhibitors and no bacon rolls! By contrast I found Sandown yesterday a bit more of a welcome return to normality, yes downstairs was nearly empty but plenty going on upstairs. I managed to have some really useful technical conversations with a few exhibitors so worth going for me.

  • I did not know I was holding the Mike tightly?

On the session I did on the lower floor I was wearing a headset mike.

The IET presentations were very well attended and we had a lot of visitors to the IET stand. It was good to see the number of people there returning to the pre-COVID numbers.

The IET team always appreciate feedback from the audience on our presentations so  do let us know?

We are doing more CPD at the shows now so let us know what topics you would like to see for the shows next year starting at Alli Pally?
