Do BNO Cables need a separate tray?

When designing BNO Apartments, do the armoureds need to be on a separate tray.

I havent found anywhere that says this is needed, but seems like good practice. The other option could be a larger shared tray with a steel divider

Thanks

  • The flats I'm working on now dont seem to have any problem with the aluminium split concentric on the same ladder and tray as the outgoing SWA cabkes to the individual flats. The incoming cable is definitely touching the SWA's, the BNO supplies to the individual flats cutouts is slightly segregated from the outgoing SWAs, but only by a small gap, 10mm or so.

  • Thanks Alan, thats very helpful. When you say the outgoing SWAs in the last line, are you talking about landlords equipment?

  • Yes, incomer comes from underground, goes into the cut-out, then orange coloured ally cables (240mm x3 split concentric I think) go up onto a ladder to a Lucy fused DB around around 10 metres away. An ally cable, 95mm x3 split con iirc, then comes back on the same ladder to the Landlords panel board. From there, the various landlords DB supplies use the same ladder to get to their respective DBs.

Also, from the Lucy DB, around 40 supplies emerge, all in orange coloured ally split con, ran on vertical tray, to the cut-outs for the individual flats. The output from the cut-outs to the flats is run in SWA, affixed to the same vertical tray. These are separated by around 10mm, mainly due to the amount of room on that tray, and the incoming cables fixed in trefoil layout, giving more room for the outgoing cables. Of course, the idiots who prepared the outgoing cables could not be bothered to run them in any way that looked good, and used plastic cable ties, so it looked awful. We've since re-fixed them with metal ties.
