detecting location of underground cable damage

There is a 4c  armored cable one live cable is  disconnected somewhere around underground area , how to detect the location by mathematically calculate

    The best way to detect cable is by CAT and Genny, tracing the cable location using an inbuilt drawing. I don't think it's the most suitable way to detect it mathematically unless you have got details of cable length and by measuring the distance between the cable termination points you could get a rough idea but in the end to get an accurate location you still need CAT and Genny. Hope it helps.
