The last level 4 2396 Design, Erection and Verification exam was in March with 115 hardy souls across the U.K. having a go. Only one person got a distinction, 13 achieved a merit, 34 passed and 67 poor sods failed!
I will post a sample question to give you an idea of the level.
I must say I am quite surprised the no of entrants is so low - does this mean that the qualification is not needed, perhaps the same knowledge is acquired or demonstrated in another way, or the UK already has enough folk operating at that level and the market is saturated and this is all we need, just replacing those who have retired or died on the job?
. If not the perhaps like NHS doctors and nursing staff we need t recognize those who qualified in India or Asia to plug the gap? 
Of course if these things could be done exam only at a price that made failure acceptable then it would be totally cluttered up with folk like me taking it just for fun and probably failing horribly too. (In the same vein, have been driving a little over 40 years, I'd be quite nervous taking a re-test, but I enjoy the Borda off-road courses work keep sending me on even if I keep getting stuck.)
