HV & LV Cables sharing a trough

Morning All,

Hopefully a quick one.

If HV & LV cables are installed in the same cable trough system, is there a minimum distance they need to be separated and any other specific requirements we should be aware of?

My colleague visited a site recently which has a private HV ring run in a cable trough and they have asked to use this for LV sub-mains also. It is not something I have done before so wanted to make sure we get it right before committing.

    Does the HV cabling have its own earthed armour?, and/or  would the type of LV cable you propose have insulation that withstands the worst case HV fault?  If not, or more likely, if unsure, then the trough  really ought to be divided, or another tray run along side. It is unusual.
