Surge protection in street lighting

Hi All first time post

Regarding Street lighting, is there a requirement to install stage 2 SPD in each individual lighting column on a circuit. Or is Stage 1 SPD installed at source (Feeder Pillar) plus stage 3 SPDs in lanterns sufficient.

    Thats what i am trying to determine with regards to the regulation if it is mandatory or optional. Is it mandatory to install all 3 stages of SPD.

    According to the regulation, the provision is necessary in cases where there is a risk of severe harm, fatality, or substantial loss of money or information. Therefore, I would personally take that criteria into account when making a decision on installing SPDs. Is it even required?
