I've just been having a discussion about the outer sheath colour of soft skinned (FP 200 TYPE ) from the mains distribution board to the fire alarm isolator. I always thought it should be white and not red - any thoughts ??

BS5839 recommends red, although it is not mandatory;

BS 7671 has no requirements for the colour of the sheath of a multicore cable. In respect of fire alarm systems, BS 7671 references BS 5839 series, BUT I'm aware that there are references back to BS 7671 for some aspects of BS 5839 ...
