  • why is it in four pieces? 

    I remember we had problems with the BSI web site a while back - it's self-formatting copy-protected display system seemed to struggle with the sheer size of BS 7671 and after some days of frustration they ended up putting a plain PDF version alongside so people could read (and navigate) it sensibly. I guess the current approach is an attempt to head off such problems.
