I totally agree with this concept to get people trained in the theory and the onsite practical skills.

What I see as a big stumbling block is

Most companies insurance won’t have 16-17 year olds on the books.  As an industry we need to educate our insurance companies.

As always please be polite and respectful in this purely academic debate.

Come on everybody let’s help inspire the future.

Parents
  • Yes, apprentices could start when they were fifteen years of age and on an indentured scheme.

Gov employemnt rules now state "Children can only start full-time work once they’ve reached the minimum school leaving age - they can then work up to a maximum of 40 hours a week.".

Employer may have to double check any caveat with employers liability terms and conditions, but apart from that risk assessmnets etc to be produced where young persons are employed and any mitigation on what they can and cant do or get involved with.
