In-Home Displays for 3-phase meters.

A friend continues to have issues with the metering of his 3-phase supply.

(His previous problem was on having the 3-phase supply installed that although they removed the previous 1-phase meter, they continued to bill for that meter a daily standing charge and an estimated consumption, together with an estimated consumption for the 3-phase supply.  It took intervention by the Energy Ombudsman to resolve the double billing.)

The 3-phase smart meter cannot communicate with Sottish Power.  However they will not come out to read it, nor explain how to read it.  It appears to me to be a dual rate meter although he is not on a dual rate rate supply.  Downloading Scottish Power's meter reading instructions does not give sufficient info to obtain a reading. 

As a possible part solution, does anyone know whether Scottish Power (MANWED region) supply In-Home Displays for their 3-phase meters?

    What make of meter is it ?

    The meter is a Honeywell A1140 with a sticker "Programmed for SSC Code 0320" which apparently indicates that it has been set up as a two rate meter.  The digital display comes up with TOU ACTIVE or TOU.  TOU stands for Time of Use Tariff.

    Our best guess is that you add the two together for the total consumption. But seeing that there has never been an official reading, he does not want to virtually double his consumption.

    Since the meter seems to cover all eventualities besides conventional domestic tariffs and the meter appears to offer kW and kVAr there is plenty of scope for mis-reading.

    Thanks Chris.  That looks promising!

    What is causing confusion is TOU ACTIVE and TOU displays, which he currently gets. The question being should they be added together?  From that link it would appear that they should be since he is on a standard single rate tariff.  Hopefully he also gets the Cumulative Import AI display, which I guess would be the sum of the two TOU displays.

    Although he gets the Arrow pointing right which I now know equals Import, the Import indicator (Down Arrow above Import) is not showing. 

    I am now wondering whether this meter is actually a Smart Meter, since there is no mention of this on the meter front, nor any associated LEDs. (like our smart meter has, albeit a single phase meter). 

    Whilst Google tells me that there are 3-phase Smart Meters, I cannot find any indication that Scottish Power supply them.

    Ah well, at least some progress!!

    When I had my 3-phase supply put in, there were no smart meters, which was a blessing.

    This year, I explored the possibility of getting one in order to get a more favourable tarif. Yes, they do exist, but my supplier, British Gas, has failed to fit one.

    programmed to be active at any particular time period

    If set up that way, it looks like you can have it so same kVA consumed ends up recorded on more than one  counter.

    Thanks Mike.  That seems to cover it!

    No mention of Smart there, so would seem to be a "dumb" meter. So no missing IHD.
