Hello. I am looking to invite a member of the IET to our College Open day for a technical talk to our electrical students. Can anyone off details as to how I go about finding details in the IET to invite someone for this please.

We are having a manufacturer's and installers open day at our new college, and we are looking for a guest speaker from the IET to talk to out students about the electrical industry, and the Wiring Regulations. Can anyone guide me to where I can request, if it is possible, for someone to attend this day? Thanks in advance.

  • Probably two options, one is to contact the Local Network (LN) near your college to ask if there's a local member who could come and give a chat, and/or two, contact the IET main office in Stevenage to see which department is most relevant, as they may have 'ready to go' material that the LN member could present if they don't have anyone who could come.

I've done something similar for a registration advice talk, though more focussed at the IEng/CEng level.

    Where is the college based?

  • Hi Philip,

Thanks for your reply.  We are in Tamworth in Staffordshire north east of Birmingham. I will try the main office in Stevenage, to see if they can offer any help.
The learners are Level 2 and 3, and apprentices.
    Thanks

  • I'd strongly second contacting the Local Network as they're likely to have the best knowledge of active local volunteers, you can find details here - I guess one of those near the end under "West Midlands"?

  • Thanks for the reply Andy. I have got through to Stevenage office, and someone is  supposed to be getting back to me.
