Guidance Note 3 Inspection and Testing 2022 Appendix C

Is the diagram / picture incorrect?  Should it not show the Neutral/Blue in the middle under the meter and the Line/Phase on the outer part?  See attachment

As always please be polite and respectful in this purely academic debate.

Come on everybody let’s help inspire the future

  • That will depend on the meter - in all of the single phase ones  that I can recall seeing open,  the neutral is a solid bar connecting the inner terminals - so yes in that drawing, the brown and blue on the RHS are swapped, as you say . But maybe some meters are wired like that drawing and I've just not met one yet.

Or perhaps the artist's house suffers polarity reversal and we should ask them to check ?!

Only a court of law can decide this.  lol

  • I think, perhaps;  you are confusing me with someone else. I'm the one who is happy to offer an opinion base purely on what feels reasonable when considering the situation technically. The current regs may or may not be adequate, necessary or even desirable in some situations.
That does lead to the odd hard to justify cock-up,  but the limit of 'possible' is found by going beyond, and then winding in quick when things don't work.

Mostly I'm in a R and D environment not standard installations.
