It could possibly date back to the 1890’s, I have seen DNO intakes installed at that time in properties in several locations.
Where is it?
If it is somewhere like the Bristol Road in Birmingham or Cathedral Road in Cardiff, it may well have been installed in the 1890’s when the horse drawn trams were electrified, I have worked on installations in both locations which still have the original intake equipment.
Here in Worcester I have worked in houses which also had DNO equipment installed in the 1890’s when the first power station was built by the Corporation of Worcester Electricity Department, a hydroelectric power station with a steam engine as backup, and again the horse drawn trams were electrified as well as supplies being run into homes and businesses.
