Call for electrical installer spokespeople

We’re looking for electrical installers who are members of the IET to be the voice of electrical safety across the UK.

On 15 April 2026, we will be launching a media campaign to coincide with the release of IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 Amendment 4, and we're looking for qualified professionals who can speak confidently about safe home electrics and the importance of using competent, registered electrical professionals.

We’ll provide everything you need: case studies, statistics, full media training, and clear briefing materials.

This is a chance to help shape conversations on electrical safety at both national and local levels, and to highlight the essential work that you do.

If you would like to get involved - join our spokesperson network today by contacting communications@theiet.org

  • You could dispense with all that training and have a scroll through YouTube for people who are already veterans in front of the camera. Mark Allison would have my vote. His chair of a podcast where he challenged ESF and NICEIC in relation to the WRAG opinion on single-insulated cables in exterior meter boxes in dwellings was as good as the best of interviewers on Newsnight.
