AMD 4 - change in wording of 434.2.1

This is the one that followed on from the reg that said fault protective devices had to be placed at the point of a reduction of c.s.a. (etc.)  and used to start "... a device for protection against fault current may be installed other then as specified in (prev reg) under the following conditions" (and then went on about the 3m rule etc). I always thought it was a bit wordy and convoluted but did make sense.

The "other then as specified in (prev reg)" bit has now been deleted ... what do others think of that? To me it seems a lot less clear than it was before. If you didn't know what the previous version said, I'm not sure you'd know the reg was about alternative positioning of the device at all or that it may be used to override the earlier requirement.

  • But surely you have to read at least the regulation group, rather than an individual regulation. Seems clear enough to me.
