Screened or unscreened Cat 6.

Hi guys

I have been asked to run in some data/ethernet cables in a domestic installation. Generally for faster internet. Not really my field.  The Cat6 cable that comes up a lot is not screened or shielded. I presume a screened cable would be better or does it make little difference.

  • Just to add I flood wired my house with unshielded CAT6 years ago - and it gets used for all sorts, ethernet, analogue phone lines, even as 1-wire "bus" to some temperature sensors - all bunched together, and never had any problems with it.
