Singles and Data in the same Dado trunking compartment

What are peoples thoughts on mixing 230V 6491B singles and standard structured wiring data cables in the same compartment of Dado trunking. Although the case I am involved with are supposedly only running next to each other for a short distance it clearly doesn't comply with 528.1 Proximity to electrical services. I have a contractor that isn't concerned by this, however even if the client agrees with a departure from BS7671 I'm still concerned from a health and safety perspective as many of the instances of this are in a medical location.

  • Perhaps not quite the same thing, but on opening this distribution board in an industrial unit, all this guppins associated with a recent solar PV job just fell out. I detest sloppy workmanship and if I had control of the job, your contractor would be making alternative arrangements for the data cables!

  • Looks like CTs and a wireless transmitter ... I'm surprised that worked from inside and earthed steel box  - or was the aerial puking out of a hole somewhere?

  • Nope, all in the DB. Maybe it didn’t work. Judging by the look of things, I don’t think the installer really cared.

  • Please tell me that the blanking pieces for the top 36 mm on the right are in the lid, else it's a C1 for the exposed busbar.

  • Those boxes are not very RF tight, the paint and rubber on the doors makes it one big RF leak!

Now you have opened the door, the huge improvement of the antenna installation is sadly offset by revealing the significant worsening of almost everything else. Even 2 holes and a few big cable ties holding the box in would have been an improvement, Agree, shoddy and really surprising anyone would dare to call that finished and charge for it.

Ideally the wireless bit would be on top of the box...
