Winners in each category will receive a prize of £500. Winners will also be invited to present their work via a webinar disseminated through the IET’s Vision & Imaging Technical Network.
Applicants with the most impressive technologies will be invited to take part in a final dedicated demonstration session during the ICDP2019 conference in London (16-18 December, University of Westminster), where each demo will be judged by a panel of experts and participants of the ICDP conference.
Submissions
To showcase your innovation, please submit a A3 mini poster of your work (in PDF format), containing a URL to a short video demonstration of the work
The poster should contain: your name (indicating if you are a student), your organisation and your email address
Judging & Judging criteria
The judging panel will be made up of the committee members of the IET Vision and Imaging Technical Network or their nominees.
Each submission will be judged on the basis of technical excellence, value of the work to the wider engineering community and public benefit, business potential, novelty of the basic idea and its implementation. Submissions are open to both industry and academia, based in both the UK and internationally

- A single person may make only one entry for each prize category (student, industry)
- Entries must be submitted through the web page https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=viia19 and consisting of an A3 poster in PDF format. The poster needs to include a URL to a video demo
- It is a condition of entry that the applicant agrees for their name, poster and video to be published if they win the award. Winners will be expected to sign any reasonable agreements in respect of the publishing or reproduction of their poster and video
- The decision of the judges is final and interpretation of the term 'best' is entirely at their discretion
- Neither the judges, committee members of the V&I Network or the IET will enter into any correspondence with regards to judging decisions
