The new management committee is comprised of professionals from both the government and private institutions. Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar has been elected as the Honorary Chairman for the new management committee. Also elected was Dr. Tang Shi Siong as Honorary Vice Chairman, Muhd Aminuddin bin Mohd. Yussof as the Honorary Secretary, Dk Roselawati binti Pg Haji Halus as the Honorary Treasurer and Ikhwan Tiong bin Abdullah as the Honorary Assistant Secretary.
Other committee members are Lim Sam Lee, Dr. William Voon South Fee, Ir. Simon K A Leong, Lt. Col. (U) Schufin bin Haji Brahim, Pg Hj Masle bin Pg Hj Hamid, Major Wan Farhan bin Haji Ibrahim, Haji Amrinal bin Haji Amir, Zainidi Hj Abd Hamid, Lt. Nurul Khartini binti Akui and Ir. Poh Eng Hong. Meanwhile, Ong Boon Jing and Mohamed Haris were also elected to become the auditors for 2019/2020.
The IET Young Professional Section (YPS) elected Tay Shieh Cherng as Chairman, Jevon Penaflor as Vice Chairman, Ikhwan Tiong bin Abdullah as Secretary, Pg Md Abd Aziz Pg Hj Hassan as Treasurer and Sham Neng Cong, Dalvina Chin Si Ying and Muhd Faiz bin Adros as IET YPS Members.
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community. The IET has more than 168,000 members in 150 countries and offices in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.
In the AGM, the Honorary Chairman reiterated the vision and mission of IET and what the IET Brunei Local Network stood for. The IET Brunei sets its vision in sharing and advancing knowledge throughout the global Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) community contributing towards national development. With a mission among others, is to establish a culture of professionalism highly valued and appreciated by all in Brunei Darussalam. Increased membership and collaboration with relevant stakeholders will be key success factors in achieving this mission. The Chairman reported the IET Brunei membership with a total of 135 members.

The 2018/2019 session marked several milestones and achievements in promoting IET to the public in general, industry and the government sectors. Of particular highlight was the use of social media to disseminate our event and activities including using facebook under the IET Brunei Network.
The AGM ended with an interesting and informative technical talk entitled “Mobile Phishing – An Attacker’s Perspective” by Mohd Ariffin bin Haji Sabli, Head of Research and Development of Information Technology Protective Security Services Sdn Bhd.
