
As well as the oral speakers, there were poster sessions throughout both days, affording delegates the chance to find out more in depth information about research
We were very busy at the stand, with lots of people wanting to find out about our latest events, journals and books!


The Antennas and Propagation TPN were proud to announce Paul Cannon as the 2019 winner of the IET James R James Lifetime Achievement Award. Anil Shukla and Rebecca Walton as the new Chair and Vice Chair of the network, presented Paul with his award at the end of day one.
Paul S Cannon received his PhD (1981) from the University of Southampton. Following industrial experience in satellite communications he joined the Royal Aircraft Establishment (more latterly DRA, DERA and QinetiQ) leaving in 2013 as a Senior Fellow. Throughout this time he promoted a close relationship with academia and is now Professor of Radio Science and Systems at the University of Birmingham.
His research has focused on the ionospheric environment and related propagation problems.
He served as President of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) from 2014-2017. He was elected Fellow of the IEE (IET) in 1998, to the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2003.
