Are you excited to apply your curiosity to an engineering question, have an idea for an initiative, or interested in hearing about the benefits of being a part of a professional project?

The October edition of the IET Aerospace TN's Café explores how aerospace professionals come together to advance engineering knowledge. Bring your project ideas, share experiences, discuss challenges together, and connect.

Together, we can advance engineering knowledge

Professional engineers are seeing a growing demand for their skills across design & manufacturing, systems integration and emerging technologies. Yet for many engineers, exposure to professional development comes from their workplaces, where the process of exploration; how they approach a challenge, make technical or creative choices, and reach a finished product, remains behind closed doors.

The Aerospace Technical Network is supporting its members in their professional development as students, early-career & senior engineers, and advisors by connecting collaborators on public-facing projects.

In our committee, the question was simple:

Intense solar radiation had grounded Airbus aircraft in 2025. With a growing demand for datacentres in space could we simulate the effect of bit flips on the response of a large language model.

And the RadiAI project was born.

Hear how members of the network have managed their own projects, share your experiences with others, and end the session with a refreshed perspective and new connections.

We’re taking a community-led approach

Our café connects you directly with the Aerospace Technical Network.

The sessions are moderated by Shahaz Bharwani, a Committee Member of the IET Aerospace Technical Network. You’re encouraged to bring questions, experiences, and perspectives and help shape the conversation around your ideas for professional projects.

Topics for the October edition include:

  • What current events are important to be curious about?
  • What approaches are engineers currently taking?
  • What outcomes could I help to create?

By bringing together early-career professionals, experienced engineers, engineering managers, and business owners, the conversation creates a shared understanding of the industry and the paths to advance knowledge within it.

Continuing the conversation

The October edition of the IET Aerospace TN’s Café will focus on professional projects, providing an opportunity to discuss questions, ideas, and next steps with fellow engineers and members of the Aerospace Technical Network committee.
