Yesterday I was reading a news report that highlighted a campaign that has been recently launched which calls for a ban on the development of robots that can be used for sex.   It's quite an emotive subject and the relationship between humans and robots, already complex, will become more complex in the future as robots get ever more sophisticated.  Could such relationships have a detrimental effect on human relationships?

Dr Kathleen Richardson is leading the campaign, and this subject featured in the presentation that she gave back in June for the IET Robotics & Mechatronics Robot Ethics event.  You can see Kathleens presentation here  as well as presentations from Alan Winfield and Tony Prescott

According to the report , Dr Richardson, wants to raise awareness of the issue and persuade those developing sex robots to rethink how their technology is used.

It would be great to hear your thoughts - why not let us know what you think in the comment box below?
