I visited the Singapore Network 15 – 18 March.  Busy few days, meetings with Main committee, YPS and YPS sub-divisions listening to their sharings about views and vision for the IET. Together with YPS Chairman Tan Eng Hwa and YPS member Morgan, we shared about the IET with the NTU and PSB Academy On Campus group.  

 

Always good to see the old friends and many new faces at both main committee and YPS.   Many exciting events at the Singapore Network in 2016 including their 40th Anniversary celebration event, site visits to Rolls Royce, Microsoft, Cisco, Faraday Challenge, and a new and vibrant On Campus group set up at PSB Academy.

NTU PATW Competition Final 2017

 

Thanks to the NTU OC special projects team led by YIqi and OC in charge Kai Xian for organizing the very successful PATW Final event with 58 attendees 5 participants to present on different topics.   Congratulations to Zang Jinliang presented about Hyperloop who got the highest scores given by both judges and audience.  

Singapore YPS has been expanding from about 6 members to 20 members in just two years.  This has a lot to do with their well-structured team.   They have executive team and 5 sub-divisions (lead of sub-division sits in executive team meeting).  Each sub-division focus on different projects/tasks with a group of 2- 3 members led by team leader.

 

“Fun” is another reason why the YPs enjoyed volunteering and section expanding.  “Fun” is another reason why the YPs enjoyed volunteering and section expanding.  As Ren You, Secretary of YPS pointed out:  “We not only organise technical events but we also do fun team building activities such as half-day cycling and afterwards a dinner at NTU – On Campus group introducing the OC Executive committee team to YPS”.
